teaching practice

Alongside my performing and creative work, I have been an educator, teacher and facilitator for over 15 years now with an experience teaching in various contexts & settings. The thing I love the most about teaching is sharing my knowledge & experience further in a way that it can support the growth and creativity of my students, bringing out their authentic voice and developing their potential. I see education as a two-way street, I share my knowledge and guidance but everytime I learn something back, this is what I truly enjoy, because this is the root of the human connection, which goes beyond teaching itself.

Currently I am working as a music teacher at Muziek in de Voorschool (Music in Pre-school) for children of 0-4 age group via SKVR, Rotterdam, recorder teacher for groups of children 6-8 age group & as a Music & Movement teacher at Theater Babel, Rotterdam in a form of workshop days. Since 2023 I have been in teacher´s training in Musicality of Movement – a unique approach dealing with performing bodies developed by Virág Dezso via MAPA – The Moving Academy for Peforming Arts, following my stage with her as an assistant teacher at Codarts Rotterdam for the singing department.

As my creative practice keeps developing, such my teaching practice keeps developing and with time my education work has started to shape around the topics of the body, music combined with movement & collective creative practices, always having my music and movement background & performance experience as my roots. One of my personal passions in facilitating-teaching is to work with children and people with specific needs, (in)visible (dis)abilities and chronic illnesses, coming out also from my personal experience moving in a body with chronic illness since early age & finding ways how to enjoy it and heal.

Based on my both creative & personal process, I have been developing a creative practice that can be both individual but works best as collective, exploring the physical, musical and poetic body in daily life movement, breath and creativity MY BODY : MY HOME – Stories from the Bodies – . The practice draws its core inspiration from the understanding that each body has its own unique story which can be expressed through finding & sharing its authentic voice regardless of shape, size, gender, age, physical (dis)ability, perceived limitation, (hyper)sensitivity, background or origin.

In my practice as a flute – music – movement teacher, I follow several basic principles which are:

  • physicality and body awareness developement while playing / performing – body vs. music instrument (voice), physicality vs. sound and tone developement
  • active listening and listening in a group
  • developement of the tone, sound, resonance (in music instrument, voice, body, spoken word)
  • support of own experimentation & exploration in music in practice and performance
  • the use of authentic expressivity and its deeper developement in practice/ performance

Besides my regular teaching work, I offer individual or group lessons as well as sessions in a workshop form in these areas:

  • creative practice exploring the physical, musical and poetic body in daily life movement, breath & creativity
  • collective practice (it works the best) but possibility of individual session(s) !
  • weekly/regular lessons or series of workshops
  • during the sessions we work with the tools of movement & music, sounds & words in a physical and practice-based way, supporting both individual and collective experience, awareness & body language
  • encouraging the development within everyBODY’s own physical and creative abilities
  • my sessions have often a specific focus group – specifically for queer and female bodies, and bodies with hypersensitivities & (in)visible disabilities or chronic illnesses that might not always feel safe or comfortable to move in and explore own body authentically in regular spaces – but depending on the context, the practice is fruitful and possible to be practiced by anyBody
