my home : my body – stories from the bodies –

film by Mar Gimeno Lumbiarres | performance by Dorota Márföldi-Matejová

Our bodies speak, through connecting to our body, we can connect deeper to other bodies. Each body has its story, and the body is the first portal, the door to the mind and the soul. That means connecting to the body means also making a step towards connecting to the soul, and the body and the soul aligned make space for the spirit to be welcome and present. The spirit can be present in many ways – creating something together, through music & movement, sound, words or moves, authentically in the present moment is one of the ways how the spirit can be present.

my home : my body is my practice that intertwines and combines all of my practices: music x movement x poetry performance and creative practice and my teaching practice. Being active as a physical performer, musician, maker and a teacher with time I have realised that it makes no sense to make separation, categories or boxes in all what I do. All of these different practices and different outputs of my energy are in the end embodied and connected in one – in my body, my soul, my spirit. All of them are different shades & sides of creativity. They not only reflect my knowledge & experience but also my personal life.

On this website you can find many of my projects, some completed, some ongoing and ever-transforming. In this post I share more about my home : my body as a teaching practice that I am constantly developing.

my home : my body –Stories from the Bodies – is a collective creative practice exploring the physical, musical and poetic body in daily life movement, breath & creativity, encouraging the development within everyBODY’s own physical and creative abilities. This practice draws its core inspiration from the understanding that each body has its own unique story which can be expressed through finding & sharing its authentic voice regardless of shape, size, gender, age, physical (dis)ability, perceived limitation, (hyper)sensitivity, background or origin.

By experiencing physical-musical practice collectively as a group of diverse people, by moving in the same space, and through collective creativity, our awareness, our sensitivity, our connection to each other can grow. This is another way to connect, other than through rational mind (thinking). Through connection we can support each other, nurture each other, recognize what we need for a more aware, nurturing, sensitive, respectful, resistant, loving, caring society.

Respecting the experience of other bodies as well as respecting our own, is the step towards collective awareness and a step towards developing collective sensitivity and caring for each other by recognizing the ways & the languages our bodies speak.

Coming from my authentic daily and life experience as a moving body dealing with an “invisible” chronic condition since an early age & the experience how finding the authentic movement language has been deeply healing for me, I want to offer these sessions for everyBody who seeks for connection with their body (and other bodies), physical awareness and tools of music and movement to express “the story from your body”. These sessions combine my personal experience & findings as a moving body with its unique story while being a moving body as a musician-performer-teacher with many years of professional experience, using a combination of own tools + tools of Musicality of Movement, studied with Virág Dezso + tools from various movement, dance and music practices gained over the years.

Guiding these sessions I’d like to offer & share these practice-based creative “tools” while giving space for exploring them to deepen our embodied way of everyday living, moving in this world, as well as supporting your creative or performance practice if you wish so.

Based on my personal experience, the sessions are specifically designed and welcoming to queer and female bodies, and bodies with hypersensitivities & (in)visible disabilities or chronic illnesses that might not always feel safe or comfortable to move in and explore own body authentically in regular spaces.
