For the second edition of Living Breathing Spaces – a product of collective hearts – we invite you, the audience, to transform this space into what we wish it to be: a place of human connection, welcoming authenticity, expression and collective creativity. Through the guidance and performing presence of four Rotterdam-based artists, experienced both in their diverse performance practice as well as in practices of experimental education, self-taught learning, creative teaching and collective learning, we will make a collective performance-improvisation with sounds, words and moves that will resonate through the spaces of the building.
This evening welcomes everyBody. Active participation is welcome but not required. We believe that your presence and listening is a participation in itself already.

Stories from the Bodies workshop series encourage the development within everyBODY’s own physical and creative abilities, and is developed with a specific focus for folks with visible or invisible (dis)abilities, hypersensitivities, chronic illness, burn-out situations or other physically or mentally related specifications. The course welcomes specifically queer and female bodies and bodies that might not always feel safe or comfortable in regular spaces. Each session focuses on a specific area designed to connect with, explore, deepen and express “the story from your body” in an authentic way: 15 november, 10:00-13:00 – session no. 1 | “move with your breath” : how breath supports the body & connects to movement? ||| 22 november, 10:00-13:00 – session no. 2 | “sing with your movement” : which musical possibilities does movement have? ||| 29 november, 10:00-13:00 – session no. 3 | “tell the story from your body” : how can you create instantly with the possibilities vs. limitations you have in the given moment?

The workshop is designed as a development process so we kindly ask you to perceive it as one journey participating in all 3 days. Fem Fest 2025 presents their artist in focus: Jimena Maldonado, Mexican composer based in The Hague. Her piece “Taboo” was inspired by a social media storm, before #MeToo even: #MyFirstHarassment. It will be presented in a new arrangement with four live performers: Christine Cornwell (violin, voice), vixnde (voice, electronics), thedagg3r (electronics, voice), Dorota Matejová (traverso, voice).
The performance will also resonate with the discussion part, bringing in our social focus of this edition: gender-based violence. Meant to listen for your questions, your stories, your perspectives.

Performancia Odtlačky do ticha / Imprints into Silence sa venuje spôsobom akými umelecké výpovede jemne ale silno pôsobia na myslenie ľudí a menia dynamiku života v komunitách a v spoločnosti. Aktérmi živej hry sa stávajú samotné umelecké diela a všetci prítomní. Dorota Matejová (traverso, flauty, pohyb) a Lucia Gregorová Stach (text, interpretácia) rozohrajú s publikom priestorovú dialektickú hru, v ktorej sa objavujú slová a zvuky, znejú a miznú, zanechávajú prchavé emócie aj trvalé odtlačky zážitku.

We step forward courageously together as we get closer to the 50th Anniversary of International Women’s Day – so much effort and solidarity brought us to where we stand now, despite many challenges that are still faced. We celebrate all waves and ways that bring about change, each wave is unique. Whether this is internally felt or out in the open, each one reverberates.
With music, poetry and other magic we share the roots which bring us to where we are now.”

Two friends and musicians, Dorota Matejová (Slovakia) and Kat Carson (UK/NL) who usually perform in the early music ensemble Nymphes et Monstres, come together in an intimate setting combining folk songs from their home countries Slovakia and Britain. The chosen songs are all “women´s words”; songs written from the perspective of female figures, often singing about the simple but deep, and sad but beautiful parts of life: love, nature, solitude and human connection. These songs have specific poetic styles and melodies typical to the folk traditions of these two countries. Dorota and Kat will perform in their native languages, intertwining them with instrumental improvisation upon the songs´ themes.
